The publication of competition notice and all documents useful for the definition of proposals, as well as the management of the applications to be sent in the 1st and 2nd competition phase exclusively through pdf files, has been entrusted by the Municipality of Ariano Irpino to the digital platform Concorrimi. It is specified that the official language of the competition is Italian.

Selection Board


Since 1995 he has been Professor of Urban and Architectural Design at the Iuav University of Venice. His university career takes place among the Polytechnic University of Milan, where he graduated, the University of Naples “Federico II”, where he taught from 1988 to 1999 and the IUAV of Venice, where he is invited in 1999, and where from 2009 on has coordinated the Doctoral Program of Urban Design, and from 2015 has become Rector. He has been editor of the magazines “Lotus International” (1981-1991) and “Casabella” (1996 – 2010). He has won international awards such as “Il Leone di Pietra della Biennale di Venezia” (1985). Since 2012 he is in the Scientific Committee of the Triennale di Milano for the architecture sector. He earns prizes and wins architectural competitions including that for the Castiglione squares and the school of Mirandola, which he will also make. He participates in numerous juries of national and international competitions.


Since 1995 he has been editor of the architectural magazine Casabella and since 1981 curator of the architectural publications for publishing House Electa of Milan. He graduated in architecture in 1970, and from 1980 to 2016 he was responsible for the course of History of Architecture at the University Iuav of Venice, becoming director of the Department of History of Architecture from 1995 until 2003. He has been Visiting Professor at several European and American Universities such as the Accademia di Mendrisio (Swiss) and the Yale University. Director of the Architectural Section at the Biennale di Venezia from 1988 to 1991. Academician at the Academy of Saint Luke. In 2014 he was awarded the Honorary Fellowships by the Royal Institute of British Architects. He participates in numerous juries of national and international competitions.


He graduated in Composition at Florence in 1979. After winning a scholarship he lived in Paris from 1981 to 1983, where he collaborated with the Piano, Chemetov, Devillers studios.  Then he moved to Milan, met Vittorio Gregotti and worked in his studio from 1983 to 1987. That same year he opened his own professional studio and began teaching at the Architecture School of Geneva, where he worked up to 1994. Since then he has been visiting professor at the University of Girona, at the architecture schools of Strasbourg and Paris Belleville, and the Lausanne polytechnic school. He is presently associate professor at the IUAV of Venice. As a designer, he has been awarded several International competition prizes and recognitions. He has realized scholastic centres such as those located in Arezzo, San Giovanni Valdarno and Arcore. He participates in numerous juries of national and international competitions.

Angela Garcia de Paredes

She is professor at the Architectural Design Department in Madrid Architecture School, and visiting professor in many European and American Universities.  Awarded by the Government of Spain with the Spain Fine Arts Gold Medal 2014 and Spain Architecture Award 2007. She established the architectural firm PAREDES PEDROSA in1990 together with Ignacio G. Pedrosa. Paredes Pedrosa is dedicated to competitions, project and urban design mainly for public buildings related to cultural equipment. Their work has been recognized with several national and international awards, among others:  Eduardo Torroja Award for Engineer and Architecture 2014, Mansilla COAM Award 2012 y 2014, UPI Kid University in Gandía and Ceuta Public Library, Mediterranean Sustainable Architecture Award 2013 and Gold Medal International Prize for Sustainable Architecture Fassa Bortolo 2012, UPI Kid University in Gandía.


She graduated in Classic literature, then studied Archeology and got a specialization in History of Ancient Art in Rome in 1992. Since 1987, she taught in several Secondary schools between Rome and Avellino. Since 1996 collaborated with Public Bodies, taking various roles at the Provincial Administration of Avellino. From 2001 to 2004 she dealt with consulting and training activities at the University of Salerno. In 2012 she became member of the Regional Coordination Committee for the realization of courses for vocational institutes. At the same time, she played a leading role in professional activities related to national and European university research and collaborated with study and research organizations. Since 2007 she has been school manager and deputy at Vocational Institutes of Ariano Irpino. After being for many years at the head of the Institute for Hospitality Manlio Rossi-Doria of Ariano Irpino, she undertook to draft a feasibility study for the construction of a professional institute for Hotel Services and Catering to be realized in the structure of the former Hotel Terrazze Giorgione.
